FORMULASI BIOINSEKTISIDA CAIR DAN UJI EFIKASI PADA UMUR SIMPAN DUA BULAN TERHADAP LARVA Spodoptera frugiperda (J. E. SMITH)
Maize (Zea mays L.) ranks second after rice among food crop commodities cultivated in Indonesia. However, maize production was threatened during growth due to susceptibility to pests and diseases throughout the life cycle. One of the problems that can reduce productivity is Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) pest attack, which often causes 100% yield loss in corn in South Sumatra and can attack all stages of corn, from vegetative to generative. Damage often occurs on the leaves and growing points of the plant, which can cause damage to the formation of plant buds. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of a liquid bioinsecticide formulation with a two months-shelf-life against S. frugiperda larvae. The fungi used were Beauveria bassiana (Bals-criv), Metarhizium anisopliae (Metschnikoff) and Penicillium citrinum (Thom). The formulation test was conducted by applyed the liquid bioinsecticide suspension topically to 50 first-instar S. frugiperda larvae and used a concentration of 1×1010 conidia/mL and used one control and nine formulation treatments with entomopathogenic fungi founded in the JgSpk isolate as B. bassiana, CaTpPga as M. anisopliae, and JaTpOi (2) as P. citrinum, with three replicates for each treatment. Based on the results showed that the highest larval mortality rate was found in P. citrinum isolate JaTpOi E2. The high mortality of larvae occurs due to the influence of entomopathogenic fungi contained in liquid bioinsecticides that affect the larvae. Entomopathogenic fungi infect insects and attack the cuticle of insects. Liquid bioinsecticides containing entomopathogenic fungi affect appetite preferences, larval mortality, physical and behavioral changes of S. frugiperda larvae. The lowest average pupae emergence was found in P. citrinum with 0.11%, and the lowest average adult emergence was observed in B. bassiana at 0.06%. Therefore, the liquid bioinsecticide with a two month-shelf-life and the highest efficacy against S. frugiperda from the isolate JaTpOi (2) P. citrinum. This research needs to be further developed regarding research to kill S. frugiperda in the future. Key words: Beauveria bassiana, entomopatogenic fungi, Metarhizium anisopliae, fall armyworm, Pencillium citrinum
