PENGARUH VARIASI DIAMETER PULLEY TERHADAP UNJUK KERJA MESIN PENCACAH ECENG GONDOK (Eichhornia crassipes) DENGAN PRINSIP GERAK BOLAK-BALIK
One effort to utilize water hyacinth was to used it as animal feed through a chopped process. This research aimed to determine the effect of variations in pulley diameter on the production capacity of a water hyacinth chopping machine using the principle of reciprocated motion. The research was carried out from November 2023 to January 2024. Tool design was carried out at the Agricultural Machinery and Workshop Laboratory, Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya Palembang University. The research was conducted in the parking lot of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Palembang. The method used in this research was an experimental method by presenting data in the form of tables and graphs. The treatments used consisted of 2 kg of material with 3 treatments each on a 6 inch diameter pulley, an 8 inch diameter pulley, and a 10 inch diameter pulley. The water hyacinth chopped machine with a 6 inch diameter pulley was the pulley with the fastest chopped time, namely 5.34 minutes, the fastest blade shaft rotation was 144.7 rpm, resulted in the largest effective capacity of 22.4 kg/hour compared to the 8 pulley which takes 7.59 minutes, shaft rotation 80.41 rpm resulted in a capacity of 15.80 kg/hour and a 10 inch pulley which takes 8.77 minutes, shaft rotation 51 rpm resulted in a capacity of 13.67 kg/hour. The weight loss in chopping water hyacinth with a 6 inch diameter pulley was 17%, the weight loss in chopped water hyacinth with an 8 inch diameter pulley was 42%, the weight loss in chopped water hyacinth with a 10 inch diameter pulley was 52%. Pulleys with a diameter of 10 inches have the largest percentage of material weight loss, while pulleys with a diameter of 6 inches have the smallest percentage of material weight loss. The power (W) required for a 6 diameter pulley was greater than for an 8 and 10 inch pulley, but the total power consumption (Wh) was smaller than for an 8 and 10 inch pulley. This was because the time for chopped water hyacinth used a pulley was much shorter. Enumerated water hyacinths used a 6 inch diameter pulley requires 19.28 Wh of power per hour, enumerated water hyacinths used an 8 inch diameter pulley required 25.98 Wh of power per hour, while enumerated water hyacinths used a 10 inch diameter pulley required power per hour of 27.77 Wh. The 10 inch pulley was the pulley with the largest power required per hour and the 6 inch pulley was the pulley with the smallest power required per hour. Keywords : variations of pulley, chopper and water hyacinth.
