South Sumatra is recorded as the area with the highest rice production on the island of Sumatra, especially in Ogan Ilir Regency. The most common type of sub-optimal land used for rice farming is swamp land, one way of utilizing lowland swamp land is using a floating seeding system. The success of farming with this floating seeding system can be influenced by the time and amount of labor required. The purposes of this search were (1) To analyze how much labor is poured; (2) To analyze the factors that influence the flow of labor; and (3) To analyze the amount of free time in farming. This research was carried out in Pematang Bangsal Village, Pemulutan Selatan District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra using a survey method. The data used are primary data and secondary data with a sampling method using snowball sampling. Rice farming using the floating seeding method includes several stages including land processing, sowing, planting, maintenance and harvesting. Based on the research results, it was found that the total expenditure of labor was 97.26 HOK/lg/yr, where the use of labor from within the family was 49.28 HOK/lg/yr and the use of labor from outside the family was 47.99 HOK/lg /yr. The variables that have a real influence on the supply of labor are the age variable, the land area variable and the number of dependents variable. Free time that has not been utilized by farmers is 401.25 HOK/ha. Keywords: floating seeding, leisure time, outpouring of labour
