APLIKASI BIOCHAR LOTUS DAN NPK TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN DAN HASIL TANAMAN BAYAM HIJAU (Amaranthus hybridus) DI TANAH RAWA LEBAK
Green spinach (Amaranthus hybridus) is one type of green vegetable that contains many sources of vitamins and fiber. The vast area of lebak swamp land in Indonesia makes this land has the potential to increase state income in agriculture, especially during the dry season. Efforts to increase plant growth and production are soil management by adding soil improving materials and fertilizing. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of lotus and NPK biochar and their interaction in increasing the growth and yield of green spinach plants, get the best combination of lotus and NPK biochar doses that can increase the growth and production of green spinach, and find out the feasibility of green spinach production business by applying lotus and NPK plant biochar planted in lebak swampland. This research will be carried out from September 2023 to January 2024 on Politeknik Street, Bukit Lama Urban Village, Palembang, South Sumatra with coordinates 3°00'15.4"S 104°43'44.5"E, then continued at the Plant Physiology Laboratory of the Department of Agricultural Cultivation and soil analysis was carried out at the Laboratory of Chemistry, Biology, and Soil Fertility, Department of Soil, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. This study used a Factorial Group Random Design (FGRD) consisting of 2 factors. Factor I was the dose of lotus biochar (B) which consists of 3 levels, namely B0= 0 tons ha-1 of lotus biochar (0 g/polybag), B1 = 10 tons ha-1 (22,72 g/polybag), B2= 20 tons ha-1 (45,45 g/polybag). Factor II was the recommended NPK dose (N) which consists of 3 levels, namely N0 = 0% NPK recommendations (0 g/polybag), N1= 50% NPK recommendations (2,25 g/polybag), N2= 100% NPK recommendations (4,5 g/polybag). There were 9 treatment combinations, each of them was repeated 4 times and each experimental unit contained 1 plant. So, the total number of plants are 36 polybags. The variables observed in this study were soil pH analysis, plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, leaf greenness, crown fresh weight, root fresh weight, root length, crown dry weight, root dry weight, and root crown ratio. The results showed that the combination of biochar lotus and NPK recommendation (BxN) had an influence on all modifiers other than the greenness of green spinach plant leaves. The combination treatment of 20 tons ha-1 biochar lotus and 100% NPK recommendation (B2N2) showed better growth and yield compared to other treatments, but dosing 10 tons ha-1 biochar lotus and 100% NPK recommendation (B1N2) can also provide good growth and yield of green spinach plants at a cheaper production cost.
