HUBUNGAN BODY IMAGE DAN PERILAKU MAKAN DENGAN PERFORMA ATLET HANDBALL PALEMBANG
Achievement in sports is one of the indicators of the success of a country's development nationally. The key for athletes to continue to excel and show their existence in a competition is performance. The performance of Indonesian athletes has not reached the ideal point. The handball sport has never won an international competition such as the Asian Games and Sea Games for 10 years. The behavior of eating too much or too little can cause eating disorders, this often occurs among athletes and can be influenced by body image. Individuals who have a negative body image tend to have low self-confidence. This causes them to develop a mindset that encourages poor eating behavior. This study is an observational analytical study. The sample in this study was 64 handball athletes in Palembang City who were taken using the total sampling technique. The data analysis technique used the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. The results of this study indicate that handball athletes in Palembang City have a positive body image (53.1%), eating behavior is in the approach category to eating (57.8%), and athlete performance is in the moderate category (50%). From the data analysis conducted, it was found that there was no relationship between body image and the performance of handball athletes in Palembang City (p = 0.917) and there was no relationship between eating behavior and the performance of handball athletes in Palembang City (p = 1.000). The researcher recommends that coaches improve athlete performance by increasing the frequency of training and for further research to conduct further research by adding variables.
