This research analyzes about Ulayat land disputes between PT YYY and the Indegineous people of Depati Rencong Telang Pulau Sangkar in Kerinci Regency, it appears because of work on the Ulayat land without permission from local Adat stakeholders, the land is used for construction of national strategic projects. This research aims to examine the status of Ulayat land, the factors causing the dispute, and the process of dispute resolution. This research uses a qualitative method with a normative legal research type, supported by field data which is interview data. The results indicate that the disputed land is legally owned by the indigenous people of Depati Rencong Telang Pulau Sangkar, based on the Tambo Tanah Adat. The factors contributing to the dispute include administrative errors, unilateral claims, and the appearance of a new customary that is not admitted by the Depati Empat Alam Kerinci; but this customary is protected by a notarial deed where the Regent of Kerinci serves as the Protector Council for this custom. Moreover, there are no regional resolutions, and the company only communicates with the local government, without the indigenous peoples, also makes the situation worse. The disputes resolution is used by deliberation and mediation methods, although there are internal constraints and violation of the agreement from the company. Currently, PT YYY has fulfilled the compensation and indemnity obligations. Its research suggests for improvements in land administration and strengthening legal protection for the customary rights of indigenous peoples.
