Sleep pattern disorders are often found in various groups, one of which is teenagers. Sleep pattern disorders cause changes in sleep patterns, including decreased sleep duration, delays in sleep time, and changes in sleep quality and quantity. Non-pharmacological therapy becomes the main alternative for solving sleep pattern problems, because it has no side effects. The aim of this research was to determine the comparison of the effectiveness of Al-Quran recitation therapy with progressive muscle relaxation and which one is more effective for female students’ sleep pattern disorders. This research was quantitative research with a quasi-experimental approach using a two group pretest-posttest research design without control group. The total samples in this study were 46 female students at the Raudhatul Quran Payaraman Islamic Boarding School who experienced sleep pattern disorders. The results of the study used a paired t-test showed that each intervention group had a significant difference in the average score of sleep pattern disorders before and after being given treatment with p-value = 0,000 (p-value < α = 0,05). The results of the independent t-test showed p-value = 0,936 (p-value > α = 0,05), so there was no significant comparison of the average sleep pattern disorders scores after each intervention was given. The results of the N-gain test for both intervention groups were categorized as quite effective in overcoming female students’ sleep pattern disorders, due to the N-gain value in Al-Quran recitation intervention (67,7%), while in progressive muscle relaxation therapy (69,3%). This research showed that both interventions were quite effective in treating sleep pattern disorders. The future research should include a control group to strengthen the validity of these results and gain a deeper understanding of how both interventions work.
