PERAN BANGLADESH RURAL ADVANCEMENT COMMITTEE (BRAC) TERHADAP CLIMATE REFUGEE DI BANGLADESH
Climate change has become an urgent global challenge, resulting in rising temperatures, sea level increase, and significant impacts on vulnerable countries, such as Bangladesh. Bangladesh faces immense pressure from climate change, leading to a surge in the number of climate refugees. As a densely populated country, this issue demands serious attention, with rural residents being trapped in their villages due to financial constraints or individuals who migrate to cities and are forced into destitute conditions. One of the pivotal organizations responding to this challenge is the Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee (BRAC), the largest non-govermental organization in Bangladesh. This research aims to identify the challenges BRAC faces in addressing the complex issue of climate refugee recovery in Bangladesh, which spans various disciplines, including climate change, human mobility, financial aspects, livelihood, environmental concerns, and even water, sanitation, and hygiene. The research findings are expected to provide a better understanding of the role of non-governmental organizations in tackling climate change and climate refügee challenges in vulnerable countries. The policy implications stemming from this research can help guide government efforts and other organizations in safeguarding and assisting climate refugees in Bangladesh and similar countries.
