PERAN GENDER PADA KELUARGA PETANI KARET DI DESA PERMATA BARU INDRALAYA UTARA
This research is entitled "Gender Roles in Rubber Farming Families in Permata Baru Village, North Indralaya". This research aims to identify gender roles in the family. This type of research is descriptive and qualitative. Determining informants using purposeful techniques with data collection techniques, namely non-participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. This research uses the gender concept of Caroline O.N. Moser and shows the results that in productive roles, husband and wife both carry out roles, namely working as rubber farmers and also doing side jobs such as selling food, food stalls, and labour. In reproductive roles, men's roles in the family tends to be small or even non-existent, women's roles in carrying out reproductive roles are greater than of menwhile in social roles in society, women and men equally carry out their roles, but men but men carry out this role more than women because of the limited free time for women with bussy activities. That must be done, it can be concluded that are indications of gender inequality and a double burden for women in the family because women in the family do domestic and productive work at the same time. Education regarding gender roles is still very necessary to create gender equality in the families of the informants in this research. Keywords: gender roles, family, rubber farmers, gender inequality, double burden
