UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIOKSIDAN EKSTRAK BERGRADIEN EMPAT TANAMAN OBAT ANTIHIPERTENSI DI KABUPATEN OGAN ILIR DENGAN METODE DPPH
Free radical that can cause damage to body cells by oxidative stress as a trigger factor for degenerative diseases with the presence of antioxidant compounds able to counteract free radical. Medical plants ciplukan, guajava, katuk, and cat’s whiskers are utilized as antihypertensive traditional medicine because their bioactive compounds support blood pressure control. This study was conducted to determine the strongest antioxidant activity of graded extracts that producing variety fractions of ciplukan leaves, guava leaves, katuk leaves, cat whisker leaves that have been used empirically by the people in Ogan Ilir Regency. Extraction was carring out using multistage maceration method using three different solvents namely n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol. Antioxidant activity test with DPPH method on fractions of ciplukan leaves, guava leaves, katuk leaves, and cat’s whiskers leaves obtained the best IC50 in methanol fraction of guava leaves 37,07 µg/mL with total flavonoid content and total phenolic content of 232,75 mg QE/g sample and 269,96 mg GAE/g sample. The relationship between total phenolic content and total flavonoid content is not entirely directly proportional to antioxidant activity.
