PERILAKU NOMOPHOBIA PADA MAHASISWA SOSIOLOGI FISIP UNIVERSITAS SRIWIJAYA KAMPUS INDRALAYA
This research is titled "Nomophobia Behavior among Sociology Students at theFaculty of Social and Political Sciences, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya Campus."The study aims to identify nomophobia behavior among sociology students at theIndralaya Campus and ascertain the underlying factors. The rescarch methodologyemployed is qualitative descriptive with a case study approach. Informant selectionutilizes purposive techniques, while data is collected through participantobservation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research findings indicatethat sociology students experiencing nomophobia tend to excessively usesmartphones, creating comfort in prolonged smartphone usage. Consequently,there is a decrease in social interaction, where smartphones make students lesscomfortable communicating with others and more inclined to spend time with theirdevices. Nomophobia-triggering factors are situational, where students feel quicklybored and weary at specific times but find comfort in the presence of smartphonesin such situations. the conclusion of this research is that smartphone usagesignificantly affects the emotional dimension and comfort of sociology students.Lack of self-control can lead to nomophobia, prioritizing interaction withsmartphones over social interaction with others.
