PENGARUH PROSES PERLAKUAN PANAS NORMALIZING DAN QUENCHING DENGAN MEDIA AIR DAN MINYAK SILIKON TERHADAP SIFAT MEKANIK DAN STRUKTUR MIKRO PADA BAJA KARBON MEDIUM
This research has compared the mechanical properties of medium carbon Steel that is not heat treated and heat normalizing, heat treated, quenching with water and silicone oil medium at a temperature of 85(f C in of 2.5 hours. From the results of hardness testing of medium carbon Steel, which heat treated the average hardness values (VHN) is increased, amounling 9.067% after normalizing, quenching with water after 98.146% and increased up to 13,600% after quenching with silicone oil. From the results of tensile testing after normalizing average ultimate stress (ou) medium carbon Steel without heat treatment decrease 6.277% and an average fracture stress (of) reduced 10.223%, average extension (e) increased 12,5%. From The results of tensile testing after quenching with water and silicone oil, average ultimate stress (ou) of Steel without heat treat treated increases 37.013% after quenching with water and increased 24.242% after quenching with silicone oil. For the average fracture stress (of) increase 46.584% after quenching with water and increased 32.376% after heat treatment quenching with silicone oil, average extension (e) decrease 70.833% after quenching water and decrease 45.833% after quenching with silicone oil. From the results of the micro structure testing, for Steel without heat treatment there are ferrite and pearlite, after normalizing there are ferrite, pearlite and martensite. For quenching with water there ferrite, pearlite and simentit, and quenching with silicone oil there are ferrite, pearlite and martensite.
