Nanofluid is a mixture of nanoparticles, each smaller than 100 nm in size, dispersed in a base fluid. The preparation process of nanofluid is crucial for determining its quality. Factors such as volume fraction, mixing ratio of nanoparticles during stirring, and stirring time are key considerations. Volume fraction levels used are 2%, 4%, and 6%, while nanoparticle mixing ratios are 70%-30%, 50%-50%, and 30%-70%. Stirring times considered are 60, 90, and 120 minutes. Due to the complexity, the researcher opts to use the Taguchi method to identify optimal parameters and factor levels for nanofluid. The nanofluid preparation involves mixing nano particles such as Al2O3 and MWCNT with distilled water (Aquades), then stirring the mixture using a magnetic stirrer. Subsequently, the nanofluid is subjected to ultrasonic treatment and evaluated for stability using sedimentation and centrifugation methods on 9 prepared samples. Density testing is performed using a pycnometer to determine the specific gravity. Viscosity is measured using a falling-ball viscometer, where the time taken for the ball to fall a set distance is observed. The data from density and viscosity tests are then statistically analyzed using the Taguchi method to determine the optimal setting levels for the nanofluid. ANOVA statistical analysis is employed to identify parameters significantly affecting nanofluid density and viscosity. Based on these results, the nanofluid is re-prepared using optimal settings. Finally, SEM analysis is conducted on the optimal samples to analyze the size, shape, and distribution of particles.
