KAJIAN GAS METANA BATUBARA (CMM) AKIBAT SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION PADA TEMPORARY STOCKPILE BANGKO BARAT PT. BUKIT ASAM (PERSERO), TBK TANJUNG ENIM
PT. Bukit Asam (Persero), Tbk is a coal mining company located in Tanjung Enim. One of the existing mining area is Bangko West. The mined coal is stacked on a temporary stockpile frequently generate spontaneous combustion, which is the source of Coal Mine Methane (CMM) emissions. The purpose of research is to know of characteristic from temporary stockpile West Bangko that make spontaneous combustion, determine the flow rate of the CMM, determine the value of Emission Factor (EF), and knowing the countermeasures against spontaneous combustion. Measurements were performed using methane gas capture tool that has been designed at the point of spontaneous combustion. Temporary stockpile PIT IA and 1C showed that high accumulation of the PIT IA and PIT 1C are 33 meters and 29 meters, coal size was not similar, water access was not efficient, and still in the form of mineral matter like pack stone. The existing characteristic make the stock pile easier to effected to spontaneous combustion. CMM flow rate is not detected in the first minute, then the next minute methane gas began to be detected and eventually to the point of maximum concentration. The amount of discharge from the CMM measurement result is 0,03016 m3/s and Emissions Factor (EF) of 0,09126 m3/ton. The preventive efforts for the CMM of spontaneous combustion that release into the air are using Chemical fire tides’ method and compaction’s method using Excavator PC 130F or PC 200.
