Legal policies that can be implemented to reduce climate change are through carbon trading schemes. Carbon trading can be interpreted as trading activities for emission reduction certificates. The problems in this thesis are How is the legal regulation of emission reduction certificates as an object of carbon trading transactions, What are the problems, opportunities and challenges of carbon trading through Emission Reduction Certificates and How are the future legal regulations regarding Emission Reduction Certificates as an Object of Carbon Trading. In this thesis research using normative legal research methods. From the results of the analysis and explanation in the discussion it can be concluded that. In carbon trading activities, an agreement must be made called an Emission Reduction Purchase Agreement where the object of this agreement is the Emission Reduction Certificate as the object of its trade. The Civil Code has not regulated carbon as an object of sale and purchase, furthermore in the scope of property law in Indonesia which has not yet established property rights over carbon property rights. In addition, in terms of verifying carbon which involves very complex administrative procedures. In order to realize carbon trading in Indonesia, the formation and implementation of appropriate laws are needed and to strengthen the synergy of all parties. it is very necessary to determine whether carbon is an object and is regulated in positive Indonesian law. This is very important to be determined in order to provide legal certainty and maximize carbon trading in Indonesia and minimize conflict within society.
