Littering by students was identified as a significant issue in schools across Indonesia, including at SMPN 03 Tanjung Raja. The importance of proper waste disposal behavior in maintaining environmental cleanliness was emphasized. This behavior was found to be influenced by both internal and external factors. The factors that support student’s littering behavior at SMPN 03 Tanjung Raja were aimed to be analyzed in this study. This research was designed as a qualitative descriptive study, with data collected through in-depth interviews and observations. A total of 14 research informants, including 1 student from each class (10 students in total), 1 principal, 2 teachers, and 1 janitor, were selected using the purposive sampling method. The data were processed through transcription, coding, interpretation, and conclusion drawing. From the analysis of five variables, student’s knowledge and enabling conditions were relatively good, while student’s awareness, social support, and supporting facilities were deemed insufficient. The littering behavior of students at SMPN 03 Tanjung Raja was concluded to be inadequate. Recommendations were made for the school to improve student’s waste disposal behavior by organizing more competitions and environmental ambassador programs, enhancing waste management facilities such as providing closed waste collection points, socializing waste disposal regulations, and involving parents/guardians in educational activities about proper waste disposal.
