PREPARASI DAN KARAKTERISASI ELEKTRODA Ti TiO2/V2O5 SERTA APLIKASINYA DALAM ELEKTRO – OKSIDASI METANOL
Research on the preparation and characterization of Ti TiO2/V2O5 electrodes and their application in the electro-oxidation of methanol has been conducted. The Ti TiO2/V2O5 electrode was fabricated using the brush coating method. A paste was prepared by mixing binchotan, vulcan, and PANi, each of which was applied to a Ti plate (4 x 0.5 cm surface area) using a brushing technique in alternating directions. The performance of the Ti TiO2/V2O5 electrode was tested using cyclic voltammetry and linear sweep voltammetry methods. These tests aimed to determine the electrode's reactivity by observing the reduction and oxidation (redox) reactions of the sample. The cyclic voltammetry voltammogram showed a redox reaction on the Ti TiO2/V2O5 electrode with an anodic peak at -0.0021 V and an oxidation peak current (Ipox) of 1.3 x 10-1 , while the cathodic peak had a value of -0.0064 V and a reduction peak current (Ipred) of -0.16 x 10-1 . The Ti TiO2/V2O5 electrode was measured using cyclic voltammetry in the voltage range of 3V to 5V and a scan rate of 0.023 V/s with a 2 M sodium sulfate (Na2SO4) electrolyte. Linear sweep voltammetry tests were performed using methanol solutions with concentration variations of 2%, 5%, 8%, and 12%, and a potential range of 0V to 0.4V. XRD and SEM characterizations were also carried out. The XRD results showed three peaks at 2θ angles of 23.3˚, 32.68˚, and 70.64˚, with a crystal size of 15,4 nm for the Ti TiO2/V2O5 electrode. SEM characterization revealed a varied morphology with particle sizes of 1-5 µm and few pores, at a magnification of 2500x.
