PENGGUNAAN AI CHATGPT OLEH MAHASISWA ILMU KOMUNIKASI 2020 UNIVERSITAS SRIWIJAYA DALAM PROSES PENGERJAAN TUGAS: SEBUAH ANALISIS KATEGORI ADOPTER DIFUSI INOVASI DAN EFEKTIVITAS
The development of communication technology has been massive lately, with ChatGPT being one of the most successful applications using artificial intelligence. ChatGPT is very helpful for broad communication in various fields, including education. This study aims to describe the adopters of the ChatGPT AI application according to the adopter theory from the classification of innovation diffusion theory, namely innovators, early adopters, early majority, late majority, and laggards; then analyze its effectiveness and correlation according to the classification of the theory to the process of doing college assignments. The theory used in this research is the diffusion of innovation. This research uses a descriptive quantitative method that only describes a phenomenon without finding out the cause and effect, which is then analyzed using SPSS. There are 75 samples in this study using the Slovin formula with a 90% confidence level. The results of this study can describe the percentage and number of innovators 8%, early adopters 16%, early majority 29.3%, late majority 29.3%, and laggards 17.3% of the 75 samples, knowing the effectiveness and satisfaction rates for each category, Innovators are 83.33%, Early Adopters 80.21%, Early Majority 80.68%, Late Majority 76.14%, and Laggards 63.08%; the correlation is that the longer someone has adopted AI ChatGPT, the higher the level of satisfaction and effectiveness of AI ChatGPT they feel.
