PERAN IDENTITAS NASIONAL TERHADAP INTENSI MEMILIH PEMILIH PEMULA PILKADA KOTA PALEMBANG 2024
Political instability in Indonesia, such as fluctuations in political participation and policy controversies, has the potential to influence the intention of first-time voters to exercise their right to vote. This study aims to analyze the role of national identity on the intention to vote of first-time voters in the 2024 Palembang City Pilkada. The subjects of the study were first-time voters aged 17-22 years who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through a Likert-based psychological scale and analyzed using simple linear regression and multiple regression. The results of the study indicate that national identity has a significant role in voting intention with a contribution of 41%, while the remaining 59% is influenced by other factors. However, the results of the minor hypothesis analysis indicate that the dimensions of national pride, nation belongingness, and nation devotion do not play a significant role in voting intention. This study confirms that national identity plays an important role in encouraging political participation, but its specific dimensions need to be further explored to understand the dynamics that influence voting intention amongfirst-time voters.
