PERAN KEPERCAYAAN POLITIK TERHADAP INTENSI MEMILIH PEMILIH PEMULA PADA PILKADA KOTA PALEMBANG 2024
The political dynamics in Indonesia often influence public participation in the democratic process. Issues such as fluctuations in voter participation, controversial nomination policies, and polarization become challenges in strengthening democratic practices in Indonesia. In this context, political trust plays a crucial role in influencing the intention of first-time voters to participate in elections. This study aims to examine the role of political trust as the independent variable and voting intention as the dependent variable among first-time voters in the 2024 Palembang Regional Election. The subjects of this study are 215 first-time voters in Palembang, aged 17-22, selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using a psychological scale based on the Likert model. The data analysis was conducted using simple and multiple regression analysis techniques. The regression analysis results show a significance value of 0.000 (P < 0.05), indicating that political trust plays a significant role in influencing the voting intention of first-time voters. In other words, the higher the political trust of first-time voters, the higher their intention to vote.
