This research aims to determine students critical thinking skills in working on Higher Order Thinking Skill questions on Systems of Linear Equations in Two Variables. Critical thinking skills are one of the important competencies that students must develop to understand and solve mathematical problems, especially in the context of HOTS questions which require the ability to analyze, evaluate and create. The research method used was descriptive qualitative, with the research subjects being class VIII.1 students at Adabiyah Middle School in Palembang in the 2024/2025 academic year. Data collection was carried out through critical thinking ability tests in the form of HOTS questions and in-depth interviews to explore students understanding and thinking strategies in solving questions. The results of the research show that students critical thinking abilities in working on Higher Order Thinking Skill questions on Systems of Linear Equations in Two Variables are dominated by 23 students in the high category, followed by 8 students in the medium category, and 1 student in the low category. The indicators of critical thinking skill that appear highest are analyzing indicators and evaluating indicators, while creating indicators medium category.
