KOMUNIKASI BENCANA BADAN PENANGGULANGAN BENCANA DAERAH (BPBD) PROVINSI SUMATERA SELATAN DALAM MENGHADAPI KEBAKARAN HUTAN DAN LAHAN TAHUN 2023
This research aims to analyze the forms of disaster communication carried out by the BPBD of South Sumatra Province in dealing with forest and land fires in 2023, and identify the obstacles faced in the communication process. This research uses a qualitative approach with Haddow & Haddow's disaster communication theory. This theory includes four main dimensions: customer focus, leadership commitment, situational awareness, and media partnership. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, observations, and document studies, and analyzed descriptively. The results showed that BPBD South Sumatra Province implemented various stages of disaster communication, including direct information delivery, and information delivery through mass media, social media, and local communities to increase public awareness and participation. However, there are several obstacles, such as limited facilities and infrastructure, and still a lack of awareness from some of the community itself, as well as challenges in establishing coordination with the media and other stakeholders. Therefore, the BPBD of South Sumatra Province is expected to continue to improve disaster communication and optimization in dealing with the Land and Forest Fire disaster. Keywords: Disaster Communication, Forest and Land Fires, BPBD South Sumatra.
