This research aims to determine the effect of implementing the inquiry learning model on the learning motivation of students at SMP Negeri 12 Palembang in participating in physical education lessons. This research is quasi-experimental or quasi-experimental research with a quantitative descriptive method consisting of two research groups, namely the experimental class and the control class. The research design used was one group pre-test and post-test. The population in this study were students at SMP Negeri 12 Palembang and the sample for this study was students in classes IX.5, IX.6, and IX.9. The research results show that the inquiry learning model is better than the conventional learning model or direct learning model with a mean value of 82.06 for the control class and 87.77 for the experimental class. The results of hypothesis testing using the quasi-experimental method show that the sig. What is obtained is 0.001, then 0.001 < 0.05 so it is stated that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. The results of this research can be concluded that teachers can use the inquiry learning model as a learning model to increase students' learning motivation in participating in physical education lessons.
