This research examines the representation of the character Piko's masculinity in the film Mencuri Raden Saleh using a semiotic analysis approach. Drawing on Chafetz's theory of masculinity, this study analyzes the extent to which the character Piko reflects traditional concepts of masculinity and its relevance to contemporary perspectives on masculinity. Through semiotic analysis focusing on representamen, object, and interpretant, this research deconstructs the visual and narrative elements that influence viewers' perceptions of Piko's masculinity. The results of the study indicate that Piko's masculinity portrays a complex variation, wherein he adheres to certain aspects of traditional masculinity while exploring broader dimensions of masculinity. The conclusion of this research underscores the importance of a deeper understanding of representions of masculinity in media and how it can reflect changes in contemporary societal views masculinity.
