Patients with hypertension are found today in the elderly. Food intake is the most factor causing an increase in blood pressure, food intake is influenced by knowledge of hypertension diet because knowledge can affect a person's attitude and behavior in choosing and undergoing an appropriate diet to control his blood pressure. In addition, sleep quality also plays a role in increasing blood pressure due to changes in the stress hormone cortisol and sympathetic nervous system activity due to poor sleep quality. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge of hypertension diet and sleep quality with the degree of hypertension The study used a correlational analytical research design with a cross sectional study approach. The sample size was 81 respondents using purposive sampling techniques. Data collection used questionnaires and analyzed with sprearman rank test (0.05). The results showed that respondents with sufficient knowledge of hypertension diet 33 respondents (40.7%), poor sleep quality 64 respondents (79%), and 32 respondents (39.5%) experienced the degree of hypertension I. The results showed that there was a relationship between hypertension diet knowledge with the degree of hypertension with a p-value of 0.000 and r = 0.692, and there was a relationship between sleep quality and the degree of hypertension with p-value 0.000 and r = 0.451. The results of this study show that there is a strong and unidirectional relationship between hypertensive dietary knowledge and the degree of hypertension, and there is a fairly strong and unidirectional relationship between sleep quality and hypertension degree. Researchers concluded that the better the knowledge of hypertension diet and the quality of one's sleep, the lighter the degree of hypertension possessed by elderly people with hypertension.
