REPRESENTASI BUDAYA DALAM MEDIA GAME GENSHIN IMPACT SEBAGAI SOFT POWER TIONGKOK
China's soft power, especially in the cultural domain, is not as prominent when compared to its neighboring countries, namely Japan and South Korea. This situation is further exacerbated by the global Covid-19 pandemic, which has negatively impacted China's global image. However, amidst the surge in cases during the pandemic, a game originating from China emerged and quickly gained fame globally, namely Genshin Impact. The success of this game has elevated Genshin Impact to be recognized as one of the "Key National Cultural Exports Enterprise 2021-2022" for China. The aim of this research is to explore how Genshin Impact can export Chinese culture to become a form of soft power for the Bamboo Curtain country. This study will employ the concepts of Representation by Stuart Hall and the concept of Soft power by Joseph Nye, using a qualitative-descriptive research method with data sources from both primary and secondary data. The research findings indicate that Genshin Impact's contribution to China's soft power includes promoting culture and nation branding. The cultural export undertaken by Genshin Impact is part of cultural promotion through the representation of culture in Liyue, introducing Chinese culture through social media platforms like YouTube. The depiction of Liyue in Genshin Impact also contributes to shaping China's image in alignment with the dreams and goals of China's 'China Dream.' Genshin Impact serves as an example of using games as a medium to drive cultural strength and soft power for a nation. Keywords: Genshin Impact, Cultural Representation, Soft power, China.
