The issue of increasing electricity consumption and supply needs in Indonesia is becoming more complex, particularly because this archipelagic country has many small islands far from the larger ones. This creates challenges in the distribution and provision of electricity. To address this problem, this study proposes an environmentally friendly horizontal axis wind turbine suitable for small islands in Indonesia. The power plant utilizes a horizontal axis wind turbine with a NACA 0012 airfoil profile and a blade length of 1 meter. The study focuses on using a turbine with a wind speed of 10 m/s, even though the average wind speed in the area ranges from 3-10 m/s. The methods used include analysis and CFD simulations to determine blade geometry, torque, power coefficient, and turbine efficiency. The study also examines The effect of the number of blades, 3 and 4, variations in the angle of attack (α), and the turbulence model that most closely matches experimental results. The findings indicate that the k-omega SST turbulence model closely aligns with the experimental results. The twisted blade geometry provides the best power and efficiency, with an optimal airfoil angle of attack of 7.5°. At a shaft speed of 70 rad/s, the turbine can produce a torque of 14.86 N.m, power of 1040.81 W, and efficiency of 54.09% and for a 4-blade turbine with a shaft speed of 60 rad/s it produces a torque of 15.44 N.m, a power of 927.28 W and an efficiency of 48.19%
