PERFORMANSI MESIN SEPEDA MOTOR 4 LANGKAH BERBAHAN BAKAR PERTAMAX TERHADAP PENAMBAHAN GAS HHO DENGAN VARIASI ARUS PADA GENERATOR HHO
This study aims to analyze the effect of adding HHO gas on the performance of a 4-stroke motorcycle engine using Pertamax fuel. The study was conducted using a wet cell type HHO generator and a 125cc shogun motorcycle as a test object under normal conditions without any modification. The electrolysis process that occurs in the HHO generator functions to break down air molecules into hydrogen and oxygen, which then the gas produced from the air electrolysis process is used to increase combustion efficiency in the engine. The results of previous studies have shown that the addition of HHO gas can increase motorcycle torque by 12.59% with NaOH catalyst and 8.66% with KOH catalyst. In addition, engine power also increased by 12.35% on the NaOH catalyst and 8.46% on the KOH catalyst, as well as a decrease in brake specific fuel consume (BSFC) by 31.22% and 22% for each catalyst. This study will further explore how variations in electric current used in the HHO generator can affect motorcycle engine performance. The methodology used in this study includes testing engine performance using a prony brake dynamometer to measure the torque and power generated. Variations in electric current in the HHO generator will be tested to determine its effect on the performance of the 125cc shogun motorcycle engine. Thus, this study is expected to provide a significant contribution to the development of technology, especially renewable energy, in addition to increasing the efficiency of fuel use and improving motorcycle engine performance.
