ANALISIS MISKONSEPSI SISWA SMP NEGERI 6 INDRALAYA UTARA MENGGUNAKAN FOUR TIER DIAGNOSTIC TEST PADA MATERI TEKANAN ZAT
Physics learning is often considered difficult by students because of the complexity of the concepts taught. One of the main causes is misconceptions experienced by students, namely understanding that is not in accordance with scientific concepts. This study aims to analyze the level of student misconceptions related to the material of substance pressure using the Four-Tier Diagnostic Test at SMP Negeri 6 Indralaya Utara. The approach to this study is descriptive quantitative, involving 64 grade IX students as research subjects. The instrument used is a four-tier diagnostic test that includes multiple-choice questions, the level of confidence in the answer, the reasons for choosing the answer, and the level of confidence in the reason. The results showed that most students (82%) had misconceptions, while only 5% of students understood the concept correctly, and 13% did not understand the concept. The highest misconception was found in the concept of pressure reaching 90.62%. Factors causing misconceptions include lack of understanding of basic concepts, errors in understanding concepts with practical applications, and the influence of wrong preconceptions. This study recommends the use of four-tier diagnostic tests more widely to help teachers analyze misconceptions and design more effective learning strategies. Thus, misconceptions can be minimized, and students' understanding of physics concepts can be improved.
