PERANCANGAN DAN SIMULASI MESIN THRESHER PADA PROSES PENGOLAHAN KELAPA SAWIT KAPASITAS 1-2 TON
The thresher machine plays an important role in palm oil processing as it functions to separate palm fruits from their bunches. This study designs a small-capacity thresher machine to make it accessible for farmers and community groups. The design process involves creating components such as the drum thresher, shaft, chassis, and wheels to ensure the machine is mobile. These components are then simulated to analyze their stress performance. Stress analysis is critical to ensure the strength and safety of the machine. It helps understand the stress experienced by the material or structure. The stress analysis simulation is conducted using SolidWorks software, a 3D design tool commonly used in engineering to create 3D models, analyze structural strength, and visualize analysis results. SolidWorks divides the thresher machine into smaller parts and calculates stress, deformation, and safety factors for critical components such as the shaft, drum thresher, and chassis to assess whether the stress experienced is within the material's strength limits. The simulation results for the shaft made of ASTM A36 material show a maximum von Mises stress of 104.259 N/mm², a maximum displacement of 8.387 mm, and a safety factor (FoS) of 2.4. For the drum thresher made of 1060-H14 material, the simulation yields a maximum von Mises stress of 35.578 N/mm², a maximum displacement of 0.759 mm, and an FoS of 2.5. For the chassis, two tests were conducted: one when the thresher machine was off and another when it was active. In the test of the chassis when the machine was off, using AISI 1020 material, the results showed a maximum von Mises stress of 145.078 N/mm², a maximum displacement of 7.728 mm, and an FoS of 2.4. Meanwhile, in the test of the chassis when the machine was active, using AISI 316 material, the results showed a maximum von Mises stress of 61.378 N/mm², a maximum displacement of 0.783 mm, and an FoS of 2.8. The materials used in the above components were selected as the best options based on the material comparison conducted.
