PERTUKARAN SOSIAL ANTARA GURU DAN MURID AUTIS DI SLB AUTIS HARAPAN MANDIRI PALEMBANG
This research aims to analyze the social exchange relationship between teachers and autistic students at the Palembang Autis Harapan Mandiri SLB using social exchange theory by John W. Thibaut and Harold H. Kelley. The research method used is qualitative research. Data was collected through observation, in-depth interviews with autistic teachers and students at the Palembang Autism Harapan Mandiri SLB. The research results show that social exchanges between teachers and autistic students experience instability. Teachers spend time, energy, patience, carrying out many roles and physically greater than the benefits they receive. Teacher sacrifices produce benefits that can be seen in the long term. The benefits received in the form of emotional satisfaction, such as feelings of pride and appreciation, are felt gradually when autistic students show changes in themselves. This relationship refers to the concept of indirect exchange in social exchange theory, where long-term benefits are the reason teachers persist despite facing many challenges.
