STUDI SIFAT FISIK DAN STABILITAS NANOFLUIDA CuO – Al2O3 / AQUADES DENGAN PENAMBAHAN SURFAKTAN SODIUM DEODECYLSULFATE
Nanofluid is a solution consisting of nanoparticles dispersed in a base fluid, typically derived from metals, metal oxides, and various forms of carbon. The addition of nanoparticles to the fluid enhances its thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties. To ensure the stability and uniform distribution of nanoparticles within the fluid, surfactants are used as agents to stabilize and disperse the nanofluid. The preparation of nanofluids is crucial as it significantly affects the quality and properties of the resulting nanofluid. This process involves calculating nanoparticle volume fraction, surfactant concentration, agitation time, and sonication duration. In this study, variations in nanoparticle ratios of CuO and Al2O3 were used, specifically 75% CuO : 25% Al2O3, 50% CuO : 50% Al2O3, and 25% CuO : 75% Al2O3, along with SDS surfactant concentrations of 0.3%, 0.6%, and 0.9%. The agitation time was set to 30 minutes, followed by a 30-minute sonication process. After determining the nanoparticle volume fraction and surfactant concentration, nanoparticles and surfactants were mixed with distilled water and stirred for 30 minutes using a magnetic stirrer, followed by sonication using an ultrasonic device. After the preparation phase, the nanofluids were tested. The study included 9 samples of nanofluids with surfactants and 3 without surfactants. The tests involved measuring density, viscosity, and stability using the sedimentation photo method. The results show that nanofluids with surfactants exhibit higher density and viscosity values and better stability than those without surfactants, indicating that surfactants play an important role in enhancing the performance of nanofluids.
