HUBUNGAN AKTIVITAS FISIK DAN POLA MAKAN DENGAN KEJADIAN DIABETES MELITUS DI PUSKESMAS INDRALAYA TAHUN 2024
Diabetes mellitus has become a serious global crisis, driven by rapid urbanization, lifestyle changes, and unhealthy diets. Lack of good physical activity causes the body’s glucoses reserves to be unused so that blood glucose levels increase. A diet high in carbohydrates and fat has the potential to increase blood sugar levels. In addition, high fat levels can reduce the effectiveness of the insulin hormone. This study aims to identify the relationship between physical activity and diet with the incidence of diabetes mellitus at Indralaya Health Center. This study was a quantitative study using a cross-sectional design. The population of this study were 673 patients and the samples in this study were 70 respondents. The sampling technique used was non-probability sampling with a purposive sampling method. Data were collected using the IPAQ-SF and FFQ questionnaires, then analyzed using the chi-square test with a significance level of 5% (0,05). The result of the analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between physical activity and the incidence of diabetes mellitus (p-value = 0,000; OR = 13.963; 95% CI: 4.374 – 44.573). Diet also has a significant relationship with the incidence of diabetes mellitus (p-value = 0,000; OR = 42,667; 95% CI: 180.891 – 10.064). Physical activity and unhealthy diet were major risk factors for diabetes mellitus. Lack of physical activity and the habit of consuming foods high in fat, sugar, and carbohydrates can significantly increase the risk of developing diabetes mellitus
