The contamination of rice fields can be caused by several factors, including the presence of heavy metals such as chromium (Cr) in the soil. Chromium (Cr) is one of the heavy metals that can lead to environmental pollution. The objectives of this research are (1) to determine the chromium metal content in rice field soil that exceeds the threshold limit, and (2) to examine several chemical properties of the soil in relation to the chromium content in technically irrigated paddy fields in Purwodadi Village, Belitang Mulya Subdistrict East OKU. This research was conducted in the agricultural land within the Agricultural Extension Work Area (WKPP) of Purwodadi, Belitang Mulya Subdistrict East OKU, South Sumatra Province, from August to November 2024. The study employed a detailed survey method at a scale of 1:10,000, where the sampling points were determined randomly based on farmers' practices in rice cultivation, including the types of fertilizers and different doses used. Soil samples were taken from six different locations in the research rice fields. At each location, three repetitions were taken, consisting of five composite sample points. The analysis results showed that (1) the chromium (Cr) content in the rice field soil averaged 0.13 mg kg-1, which is classified as low compared to the threshold value established by the Soil Research Institute, which is 2.5 mg kg-1, and (2) multiple linear regression analysis indicates that the relationship between the chemical properties of soil pH, organic carbon (C-Organic), and cation exchange capacity (CEC) with chromium (Cr) in the soil has a correlation coefficient of 0.151 between X1, X2, X3 and Y, which is categorized as very low correlation. Furthermore, there is no significant effect of the independent variables on the dependent variable
