UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIOKSIDAN EKSTRAK ETANOL TANAMAN TAKOKAK (Solanum torvum Sw.)
The Takokak plant (Solanum torvum Sw.) contains phenolic compounds, flavonoids, glycosides, tannins, sterols, saponins, alkaloids, triterpenes, anthraquinones, and anthocyanins, which have potential as natural antioxidants. This study aimed to determine the total phenolic and flavonoid content, antioxidant activity (IC50), and inhibition percentage of ethanol extracts from the roots, flowers, fruits, stems, and leaves of the Takokak plant, both individually and in combination. The study used a concentration of 100 ppm for total phenolics, 1000 ppm for total flavonoids, a series of concentrations (1000, 500, 250, 125, 62.5, 31.25, and 15.625 ppm) for single-sample antioxidant activity, and 500 ppm for antioxidant combinations. Measurements of total phenolic and flavonoid content, as well as antioxidant activity, were conducted using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results showed that the total phenolic content of root, flower, fruit, stem, and leaf samples were 32.020, 22.275, 20.595, 45.048, and 40.417 mgGAE/g, respectively. The total flavonoid content for the same samples was 15.641, 8.380, 5.596, 11.744, and 19.059 mgQE/g, respectively. Antioxidant activity testing yielded IC50 values of 50.235, 166.455, 178.853, 107.553, and 44.056 for flower, fruit, stem, and leaf samples, respectively. The best inhibition percentage from antioxidant combinations was found in the combination of leaves, roots, and stems, with a value of 92.281% and an indifference effect.
