The low productivity of tidal paddy fields is caused by geographical conditions near the tributaries of the Musi River, which result in constant waterlogging. One approach to increase the productivity and income of farmers in these tidal lands is to transition from conventional paddy farming to the minapadi system. This study aims to: (1) Analyze the cost structure and income of tidal paddy farming and minapadi farming in Dusun III Talang Andong, Banyuasin I District, Banyuasin Regency; (2) Assess the technical and allocative efficiency of paddy production on tidal land in the same area using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA); and (3) Describe the constraints faced by farmers in adopting the minapadi system. The location was selected purposively. The survey method was used in this research, with simple random sampling for conventional paddy farmers and a census for minapadi farmers. A total of 35 paddy farmers and 1 minapadi farmer were sampled. The cost structure was analyzed by the percentage of each cost component relative to total costs, and efficiency was assessed using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). The results show that fixed costs account for 30.84% of the total in paddy farming and 14.13% in minapadi. While the percentage proportion of variable costs of rice farming was 69.16% and rice-fish farming was 85.87%. Despite higher production costs, minapadi farming generates higher income, reaching Rp45.741.400/Ha/MT, compared to Rp6.565.892/Ha/MT for paddy farming. In terms of technical efficiency, 19 paddy farmers (54.29%) were in the increasing return to scale (IRS) category, while 1 farmer (2.86%) was in decreasing return to scale (DRS). For allocative efficiency, 13 farmers (37.14%) were in increasing return to scale (IRS), and 7 (20%) were in decreasing return to scale (DRS). Constraints to transitioning to minapadi include high setup and production costs, land tenure issues, and limited farmer knowledge and skills in implementing the minapadi system.
