This study aims to identify the differences in framing analysis of news reports on Rocky Gerung's alleged insult toward President Joko Widodo on Kompas.com and Detik.com. The research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing the framing analysis model of Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki. The objects of the study are five news articles from Kompas.com and five news articles from Detik.com, published between July 31, 2023, and August 6, 2023. The results of the study show differences in how the two media outlets frame the news. Kompas.com tends to take a stance against Rocky Gerung but does so cautiously, focusing on the legal process. In contrast, Detik.com more explicitly supports President Jokowi, emphasizing sources from Jokowi's supporters and covering protests against Rocky Gerung. Additionally, there are differences in the number and type of sources used, with Kompas.com citing more diverse sources compared to Detik.com. In terms of writing structure, both media use the inverted pyramid format and effectively address the 5W+IH elements. However, Kompas.com provides more detailed and longer articles, while Detik.com is more concise. The language used by Kompas.com is more formal and polite, while Detik.com occasionally uses harsh words without censorship. This study suggests that media outlets should present more balanced news, and readers should critically consume information from multiple sources.
