PELAKSANAAN PROGRAM USAHA KESEHATAN SEKOLAH/MADRASAH (UKS/M) TINGKAT SEKOLAH DASAR (SD) DI WILAYAH KERJA PUSKESMAS SEI BAUNG KOTA PALEMBANG
Background: Usaha Kesehatan Sekolah/Madrasah (UKS/M) is a health program at school that has the UKS/M Trias program, which includes health education, health services, and fostering a healthy school environment. However, its implementation in Indonesia is not optimal yet, such as in the working area of Puskesmas (Public Health Center) Sei Baung, Palembang, where many elementary schools do not have an adequate UKS/M room. Factors such as lack of coaching, limited funds, infrastructures, and mentor staff become the major constraints. The role of school in maintaining children's health is really important because school-age children are susceptible to disease. Method: This study was descriptive with a qualitative case study approach. The primary data used were obtained from in-depth interviews and observations of related informants, and secondary data were obtained from the Puskesmas data archive related to the study. The informants were 21 people, consisting of the UKS/M mentor teacher, the principal, the UKS/M program manager of Puskesmas Sei Baung, the head of Puskesmas Sei Baung, and the junior doctor at the school. Results: The implementation of UKS/M at seven schools has not run well due to several factors. Resources are not fully available in seven schools. The implementation of UKS/M has not been structured because planning have not been carried out. The only indicator for the UKS/M program is the Statement Letter for the implementation team in all schools. Conclusion: The implementation of the UKS/M program in the working area of Puskesmas Sei Baung has been carried out, but it is not optimal yet. The UKS/M mentor teacher, as the main party managing the program, is expected to improve the implementation by collaborating with all related parties so that the goals can be achieved.
