PT Bukit Asam Tbk is one of the State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) engaged in coal mining. PT Bukit Asam Tbk is located in South Sumatra Province, specifically in the Tanjung Enim District, Muara Enim Regency. The study was conducted to design the slope geometry process, focusing on designing the steepest possible overall slope angle to achieve a low Stripping Ratio (SR) and maintain slope stability under safe conditions. The initial condition in this study used a 45-degree slope angle for the actual slope geometry. Then, slope geometry simulations were carried out using 50°, 55°, and 60° angles, which resulted in a decrease in the safety factor. Additionally, simulations were conducted for factors influencing slope stability, such as the groundwater level and seismic load, to determine the most significant factors affecting slope stability. Based on the results of the study, the recommended slope for section A-A’ sidewall uses a 55° single slope angle, with an overall slope height of 92 meters, an overall slope angle of 16.29°, and an elevation ranging from -20 to +72. The geometry of section A-A’ sidewall includes 8 single-bench slopes with a bench height of 8 meters and a bench width of 15 meters. The safety factor for the redesigned ultimate pit slope A-A’ sidewall is 1.192, and the slope is still considered safe and stable. The recommended slope for section B-B’ highwall uses a 55° single slope angle, with an overall slope height of 59.994 meters, an overall slope angle of 16.54°, and an elevation ranging from -20 to +72. The geometry of section B-B’ highwall includes 8 single-bench slopes with a bench height of 8 meters and a bench width of 20 meters. The safety factor for the redesigned ultimate pit slope B-B’ highwall is 1.396, and the slope is still considered safe and stable.
