KADAR SENG (Zn) PADA TANAH SAWAH IRIGASI TEKNIS DI LAHAN PERTANIAN INTENSIF DESA PURWODADI, OGAN KOMERING ULU TIMUR SUMATERA SELATAN
Intensive farming has led to the degradation of many paddy soils. Degradation of paddy soil is one of the causes of the decrease in rice production in South Sumatera in 2023. Degraded paddy soil is prone to organic carbon deficiency, macro and micro nutrient deficiencies that rarely receive attention from farmers. Zinc (Zn) is an essential micro-nutrient required by rice plants for maximum growth and production. Zn is required by plants in small amounts, if the concentration exceeds the threshold it will be toxic. This study aims to determine the available Zn content in paddy field soil and how the influence of soil chemical properties pH, CEC, C-Organic on the availability of Zn in paddy field soil. The research was conducted in Purwodadi Village, Belitang Mulya Sub-district, East Ogan Komering Ulu Regency. Soil sampling used a detailed survey method with a working map scale of 1:10,000. Samples were taken from 6 blocks of rice fields with 3 repetitions. Zn analysis using Diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid (DTPA) extraction. The results showed that in all soil samples there were low levels of available Zn. Available Zn levels in paddy soil ranged from 0.25 mg kg-1 to 2.24 mg kg-1 with an overall average of 0.78 mg kg-1. Zinc levels in the paddy field soil of Purwodadi Village are below the threshold even at some points the soil Zn is deficient for rice plants. The low availability of Zn in paddy soil is most significantly influenced by soil pH and the amount of P fertilisation given by farmers to paddy fields during the planting period.
