UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIOKSIDAN EKSTRAK DAN FRAKSI DAUN BANDOTAN (Ageratum conyzoides L) PADA TIKUS JANTAN GALUR WISTAR YANG DIINDUKSI CCL4
Bandotan leaves are known to contain alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, triterpenoids, steroids, and phenolics. This research aims to analyze the characteristics, phytochemical composition, impact of administration of ethanol extracts and bandotan leaf fractions on antioxidant activity. The assessed parameters include MDA levels, catalase enzyme activity, macroscopic liver observations and histopathological analysis in rats induced with CCl₄. This study was organized into six groups; a positive control group (Vitamin C 10mg/kgBW), a negative control group (Na-CMC 1%), and four treatment groups receiving ethanol extract, n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction, and ethanol-water fraction at a dose of 100mg/kgBW. The characterization of the ethanol extract of bandotan leaves met the standards set by the Indonesian Ministry of Health in 2017. The results showed that the mean MDA levels for the groups were as follows: positive control (0.705), negative control (2.645), ethanol extract (0.888), n-hexane fraction (0.841), ethyl acetate fraction (1.338), and ethanol-water fraction (1.670). Meanwhile, the average of catalase enzyme activity in these groups were 32.067; 6.915; 25.340; 29.467; 24.594; and 17.137, respectively. The color observations and liver histopathology analysis showed improvements following the administration of ethanol extract and bandotan leaf fractions at a dose of 100mg/kgBW. Histopathological analysis showed that the ethanol extract and fractions led to better liver conditions compared to the negative control group. Among the treatments, the n-hexane fraction exhibited the strongest antioxidant activity, as indicated by Duncan's statistical analysis, which showed no significant difference (p ˃ 0.05) compared to the positive control group treated with Vitamin C.
