FAKTOR DETERMINAN KEPUTUSAN PETANI MELAKUKAN KONVERSI LAHAN DARI KOMODITAS KARET KE KELAPA SAWIT DI SUNGAI RAMBUTAN INDRALAYA UTARA OGAN ILIR
This study examines the determinants influencing farmers' decisions to convert land from rubber to oil palm cultivation in Sungai Rambutan Village, Indralaya Utara, Ogan Ilir. The research aims to address three main objectives: (1) to analyze the demographic and socioeconomic characteristics of farmers who convert land compared to those who do not, including factors such as age, education, farming experience, family dependents, and workforce size; (2) to compare the income of farmers before and after the land conversion to determine the economic impact; and (3) to identify the key socioeconomic factors that significantly influence farmers' decisions to convert land. A survey method was used, with data collected from 30 respondents selected through simple random sampling. Statistical analysis using paired sample t-tests revealed that farmers' incomes significantly increased after the conversion to oil palm cultivation. Furthermore, binary logistic regression identified age, education, and income as significant determinants of farmers' land conversion decisions. These findings suggest that the shift from rubber to oil palm cultivation is driven by economic benefits and specific demographic factors. This research contributes to understanding the dynamics of agricultural land conversion and provides insights for policymakers to develop strategies promoting sustainable agriculture while addressing farmers' needs and economic challenges.
