The aim of the research is to determine the description of the Strategic Management of the Transportation Department in Optimizing Feeder Cars in Palembang Cityas well as the Supporting and Inhibiting Factors based on the J. David Hunger and Thomas L. Wheelen (2012) theoretical indicators which reveal that the Strategic Management process includes Environmental Analysis, Strategy Formulation, Strategy Implementation, and Evaluation and Control. The research method uses a qualitative approach in this research. Data was collected by observation, interviews and documentation with seven informants. The sample was determined using the Miles and Huberman data analysis techniques by condensing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The results of the research show that the Palembang City Transportation Department has implemented strategic management well in increasing the optimization of Feeder Cars through Environmental Analysis, Strategy Formulation, Strategy Implementation, and Evaluation and Control. . However, in this research, inhibiting factors were found, namely, there are still few people who know about Feeder Cars, a lack of coordination regarding administration in the operational budget, and a lack of dissemination of information regarding the arrival time of Feeder Cars or the Feeder Corridor Time Table.
