ANALISIS FAKTOR RISIKO KEJADIAN DIABETES MELITUS DI PUSKESMAS SIMPANG TIMBANGAN KABUPATEN OGAN ILIR

Diabetes is the fourth leading cause of death in the world with 1.6 million deaths every year. Basic Health Research states that DM sufferers in Indonesia continue to increase from 5.7% in 2007 to 6.9% in 2013 and again increased to 10.9% in 2018. The aim of this research is to determine the risk factors for the incidence of diabetes mellitus in Community Health Centers Simpang Timbangan, Ogan Ilir Regency Weighing Intersection. The research design used an analytical survey with a cross sectional approach, the research population was 2236 people with a sample of 96 respondents. The sample technique uses accidental sampling and is collected using a questionnaire. Data analysis used the Chi Square test with a confidence level of 95%. Of the 96 respondents, it was found that 26 people suffered from diabetes mellitus. The results of statistical tests show that there is a significant relationship between age with the incidence of diabetes mellitus (p-value = 0,001), family history with the incidence of diabetes mellitus (p-value = 0,021), hypertension with the incidence of diabetes mellitus (p-value = 0,001), obesity with the incidence of diabetes mellitus (p-value = 0,000), and physical activity with the incidence of diabetes mellitus (p-value = 0,018). Meanwhile, there was no significant relationship between gender with the incidence of diabetes mellitus (p-value = 0,992), and smoking with the incidence of diabetes mellitus (p-value = 0,814). It is very important for health workers to disseminate information and education to people at high risk in order to prevent this disease.
