MEDIA RELATIONS TELKOMSEL REGIONAL SUMATERA BAGIAN SELATAN GUNA MENINGKATKAN PUBLISITAS POSITIF MENGENAI PRODUK TELKOMSEL
This qualitative study aims to examine the media relations conducted by Corporate Communications Telkomsel South Sumatera Region to enhance positive publicity for Telkomsel products in online media. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews with the Supervisor of Corporate Communications and online media journalists in South Sumatera Region, along with observations of media relations activities. Data analysis refers to the six dimensions of Frank Jefkins’s media relations theory, namely: by serving the media, by establishing a reputation for reliability, by supplying good copy, by cooperations in providing material, by providing verification facilities, and by building a personal relationship with the media. The research findings indicate that, to boost positive publicity, Corporate Communications Telkomsel Souh Sumatera Region actively engages in media relations activities, such as distributing press release materials, holding press conferences, providing facilities for direct interviews with competent sources, conducting media visits, and organizing appreciative activities like media gatherings, giving rewards, press luncheons, and screening events with journalists.
