UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIOKSIDAN EKSTRAK DAUN ALPUKAT (PERSEA AMERICANA), DAUN JAMBU AIR (SYZYGIUM AQUEUM), DAN DAUN KERSEN (MUNTIGIA CALABURA) DENGAN METODE DPPH
Long-term exposure to excess free radicals in the body can cause oxidative stress and various diseases, so antioxidant compounds are needed to neutralize free radicals. This research was conducted to determine the strongest antioxidant activity of avocado leaves, water guava leaves and cherry leaves which have been used empirically by the Ogan Ilir community. The extract with the strongest antioxidant activity was then continued with the best fraction of the sample. Extraction was carried out using the maceration method and fractionation was carried out using the liquid-liquid method with the solvents used in the fractionation process, namely methanol, ethyl acetate and n-hexane. The three samples were subjected to a phytochemical screening test by detecting the content of alkaloids, phenolics, flavonoids, saponins and tannins. The antioxidant activity test using the DPPH method on extracts of avocado leaves, water guava leaves and cherry leaves obtained the best IC50 value for ersen leaves (72.77 µg/ml). The best fraction of cherry extract in the antioxidant activity test was the methanol fraction (IC50: 98.23 µg/ml) with the highest total flavonoid content and total phenolic content among these fractions (Total flavonoid content: 300.31 mg QE/g sample; Concentration total phenolics: 313.70 mg GAE/g sample). Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that the best extract as an antioxidant is cherry leaves with the best fraction, namely the methanol fraction with the potential for strong antioxidant activity against free radicals.
