POTENSI EKSTRAK ETANOL DAN FRAKSI DAUN ASAM KANDIS (GARCINIA PARVIFOLIA (MIQ.) MIQ.) SEBAGAI ANTIOKSIDAN PADA TIKUS JANTAN GALUR WISTAR YANG DIINDUKSI CCL4
The kandis tamarind plant is a plant that contains secondary metabolites such as flavonoids, phenolics, steroids, triterpenoids, saponins and tannins that have potential as antioxidants. The purpose of the study was to determine the characteristics and screening of kandis tamarind leaves, the effect of giving ethanol extracts and fractions of kandis tamarind leaves on MDA levels, catalase enzyme activity, macroscopic images, and histopathology of CCl4-induced rat liver. This study was divided into 6 groups, namely the positive control group (vitamin C 10 mg/kgBB), negative control (Na CMC 1%), and test groups (ethanol extract, n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction, and ethanol-water fraction) at a dose of 100 mg/kgBB. The results showed that the characterization of ethanol extract of kandis tamarind leaves met the requirements of the Indonesian Ministry of Health 2008. The average MDA levels in the positive, negative, ethanol extract, n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction, and ethanol-water fraction groups were 0,734; 2,428; 1,132; 1,006; 0,793; dan 1,708 nmol/mL. The average values of catalase enzyme activity in the positive, negative, ethanol extract, n- hexanes fraction, ethyl acetate fraction, and ethanol-water fraction groups were 29.425; 10,514; 21,066; 23,468; 28,626 and 15,189 U/mL. The results of macroscopic and histopathological images of the liver showed an improvement after the administration of ethanol extracts and fractions compared to the negative group. The ethyl acetate fraction of kandis tamarind leaves has the strongest antioxidant activity compared to other treatment groups as shown by the results of Duncan's statistical analysis that there is no significant difference (p>0.05) with the positive control group given vitamin C 10 mg/kgBB.
