The Open Unemployment Rate is the percentage of the number of unemployed to the total workforce. The open unemployment rate in South Sumatra Province in 2019-2022 still tends to be high. The aim of this research is to determine the best panel data regression model and the factors that influence the open unemployment rate in districts/municipalities of South Sumatra Province in 2019-2022. The data used is secondary data obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) website. Estimation of the panel data regression model was carried out with three models, namely the Common Effect Model (CEM), Fixed Effect Model (FEM), and Random Effect Model (REM). The selection of the best model was carried out using three tests, namely the Chow test, Hausman test and Lagrange Multiplier test. The best model chosen was REM. Based on the partial test, there are factors that have a significant influence on the level of open unemployment in the districts/cities of South Sumatra Province, namely IPM (X_3) and PDRB (X_5). The REM model formed is Y ̂_it= u_i-9.986905+0.200849X_3it+0.00000284X_5it. The MAPE value of the model is 7.85% as the forecasting model is in the very good category.
