PENGARUH QUENCHING DENGAN MEDIA PENDINGIN AIR RADIATOR TERHADAP KEKERASAN BAJA ST41
This research aims to determine the effect of radiator water cooling media in the quenching process on the hardness of ST-41 steel. This research is a pure experiment. This research stage includes, among other things, preparation of tools and materials. Then Quenching at temperatures of 750º, 800º, 850º, 900º and those that are not treated. After heat treatment, the specimens were tested for hardness using the Vickers test. After testing, data processing is carried out and the final step is providing conclusions. The specimens used have a diameter of 20mm and a thickness of 30mm, totaling 5 specimens using radiator water cooling. This specimen was heated using a heating furnace with temperatures of 750º, 800º, 850º, and 900º. Testing the hardness of this specimen used a Vickers test equipment with a load of 30kgf. The results of this research show the highest increase in hardness in specimens with heat treatment at a temperature variation of 900º with a value of 421.688 Kg/mm2. Then the specimen that got the lowest hardness value was the untreated specimen with a value of 213.034 Kg/mm2. Heat treatment with a variety of cooling media affects the level of specimen hardness in ST-41 steel.
