The background of this research is to find out what factors cause delays in speaking in children. The research subject consisted of 1 girl, namely AAA, aged 4-5 years, who experienced speech delays at RA Al-Manshuroh Palembang. Delayed speech is a serious problem and must be treated immediately because it can have a bad impact on the child. Delays in speaking can be identified from the inaccuracy of articulation or words used by the child and causing difficulties for the listener in understanding the words. Speech delay is when a child's level of speech development does not match his age level or is below the age average. This research uses a qualitative research method with a case study approach. The resource persons in this research are the teachers and research subjects themselves. Data collection techniques use observation, interviews and documentation techniques. Data analysis techniques use data collection, reduction, display, verification. The results of this research show several factors that cause delays in speaking in children, namely poor pronunciation of vocabulary, starting to recognize letters but their pronunciation is still inaccurate, lack of stimulus, interaction and communication from the surrounding environment, and the child's habit of playing alone. Sometimes children also like to use body language, which weakens the child's motivation to speak. Keywords : Speech delay, 4-5 years old children
